Empowering Communities: Youth-led Health Access Program in Georgia

2023-12-16

Last year, our dedicated team, comprising members of the Youth Network of the United Nations Association of Georgia, embarked on a transformative journey to remote locations, villages, and towns where awareness about public health services was lacking.

Throughout a series of impactful meetings, we conducted approximately 90 sessions, reaching out to over 1000 individuals, and disseminating crucial information about various health services and issues.

Today, our Youth Network has flourished, welcoming new volunteers who are equipped with updated knowledge on a diverse range of topics. These include the prevention of communicable and non-communicable diseases, the risks associated with zoonotic infections, sexually transmitted infections, childhood infections, vaccination practices, hygiene, nutritional health, maternal and child health, reproductive health, addiction awareness, tobacco control, and information about antimicrobial resistance, among other important subjects.

Collaborating with medical and healthcare students, our teams joined forces with the Youth Centers of the United Nations Association of Georgia to address broader health-related access issues. The synergy produced more than one noteworthy result, showcasing the positive impact of our collective efforts.

We are proud to continue our mission to enhance health awareness and accessibility within communities, demonstrating the tangible outcomes of the collaboration between youth advocates and healthcare professionals.
