Informative Meeting For Students On Introducing To Refugee Law: International and National Mechanisms

Information meeting embraced main areas and topics conveying the importance and relevance of international protection of refugees including: History, Mandate and Statute of UNHCR, International Refugee Law, including 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees and 1967 additional Protocol, Introduction of universal International treaties regarding the right to seek asylum, refugee status determination procedures and comparison between international and local standards, national mechanisms of refugee protection in practice. The meeting was ended with interesting discussion and case studies.</p> <p>The meeting was contributed by Ms. Urara Furukawa – UNHCR Protection Office and by Ms. Khatuna Madurashvili – The United Nations Association of Georgia, Refuge Council of Georgia.
