School Model UN spring session was launched at the 42 public school

On Sunday, May 15, School Model UN spring session was launched at the 42 public school, Tbilisi. 16 delegates represented interests of the different UN member states. The session was held in the auditorium of the 42 public school. The participants of School Model UN addressed the current problems of environmental sustainability.</p> <p>The session imitated UN Commission for Sustainable Development, and the delegates had chance to discuss the global environmental challenges and solutions for avoiding the global warming. After open discussions, speeches and negotiations, young diplomats adopted a resolution with voting majority, 9 against 7.</p> <p>UNAG congratulated all the participants of School MUN and revealed four outstanding delegates: Gubaz Koberidze (representing The United Kingdom), Sulkhan Chargeishvili (Italy), Nino Meliqidze (Sweden) and Sopio Gelashvili (France). These students along with other outstanding students will participate in the final round of the spring School MUN 2011 which will be held at the end of June, 2011. UNAG will award with certificates all 16 participants shortly after the UN session.</p> <p>Seven other schools throughout Georgia are waiting for their turn to conduct School Model UN sessions at their schools.</p> <p>The program was developed by UNAG, with support of the UN Development Program (UNDP). The main goal of MUN is to help the school students discover and strengthen their presentation, debate, communication, as well as group working and research skills. Role plays will urge students to research and understand the strategies that various countries use to manage their international relations.</p> <!-- EndFragment -->
