Confidence building in South Caucasus

“Confidence Building in South Caucasus” is the collaborative program of UNA Georgia and UNA Sweden, implemented with the Forum Syd Assistance.

The main objective of the program is to contribute to confidence building and cooperation in South Caucasus region within and between Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia. The program addresses the issues of confidence building, networking, and promotion of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) country and Caucasus wide.

Confidence Building in South Caucasus envisages strengthening the capacity of South Caucasian UNAs through establishment/further support of UNAs in Armenia and Azerbaijan to carry out their mandate, implement projects to contribute to confidence building and empower youth and civil society in their countries. South Caucasus UNAs networking and planning meetings, public awareness campaigns on UN related issues, National and regional MUNs and other youth oriented activities will be organized to strengthen South Caucasus UNAs network, share information and experience, plan and implement joint activities and campaigns.

Confidence Building in Shida Kartli is aimed to build confidence between various groups in Conflict Affected Area of Georgia (Shida Kartli, Tskhinvali Region) and to empower civil society actors including women and youth groups with necessary skills to contribute to confidence building process. Launching the round-table meetings with the aim of discussing relevant issues, organizing trainings on empowerment and confidence building for Georgian and Ossetian population, arranging annual Peace and Confidence building camp for youngsters from conflict affected areas of Georgia, promoting MDGs and civil society strengthening, as well as supporting local civil society initiatives are the main activities under this direction.

MDG Promotion envisages conducting researches on MDG related issues in Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia and publishing MDG Progress Reports. It aims to promote Millennium Development Goals through media and awareness campaigns to increase general public and civil society support in the MDGs promotion and implementation process.
